In 2006, Reading Pride Celebration was founded to create the first LGBTQ + Pride festival in Greater Reading. For 14 years, the group of committed volunteers has organized this festival giving space to local talent and commerce.

In April of this year, RPC expanded its goals to include:

  • To eliminate prejudice and discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community in Greater Reading;

  • To celebrate and foster a sense of pride and unity within LGBTQ+ community of Greater Reading;

  • To advance education in Greater Reading, about gender and sexual diversity, the purpose of Reading Pride Celebration, and what it has to offer the community.

  • To represent and include the diversity of the Greater Reading community in our organization and activities

Several of these plans have been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but even with social distancing, we manage to celebrate Pride, National Coming Out Day and the Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Your contribution this Giving Tuesday will make it possible for us to advance our educational and advocacy goals for the LGBTQ + community of Greater Reading, while also helping us the plan the next celebration.
